4k is the
new big thing in display tech, and it's coming to a big screen living room TV
near you. Samsung's CEO said that its new F9000 line of ultra-high-definition
televisions would be available for pre-order in the United States starting July
21st. The 4K TVs will be offered in 55- and 65-inch models that the company
says are "following in the footsteps" of the floating 25-inch model
Samsung showed off at CES this year.
These new
generation screens deliver an 8 MP image from high resolution cameras which
breathes in new life to everything u see. 4K is a resolution of 3840 pixels ×
2160 lines (8.3 megapixels, aspect ratio 16:9) and is one of the two
resolutions of ultra-high definition television, the other being 8K UHD which
is 7680 pixels × 4320 lines (33.2 megapixels). Both are aimed at consumer
televisions. 4K UHD has twice the horizontal and vertical resolution of the
1080p HDTV format, with four times as many pixels overall. Currently all 4K UHD
televisions use a standard 5.1 sound system, with no moves towards 7.1 being
publicized.
